CLLR Phil Stanley-Watts in Bournemouth raises the matter of the wedding of William Windsor and Kate Middleton and the prospect of street parties.

To get some context here councillor, would you like to reflect on what else is going on in the breadth and length of our land?

Hundreds of thousands of people are being put out of work by massive dismantling of public service industries.

And this done in the name of the vast indebtedness racked up by the reckless profiteering of our own banking systems.

To focus on the impact of losing employment consider how it is to have your family income plummet from £2,000 a month to a couple of hundred pounds benefits.

And consider, hardly less severe, the millions of in-work families struggling with mortgages and bills and ever-rising prices.

And you suggest we should be thinking “street party”.

Well, sorry councillor but I think it could be more a case of street protests, not parties.

All respect to two lovely young people but let us not forget national wealth, particularly land, is handed down from history to these grand families, owning as they do, whole chunks of counties.

I believe the people of Britain are looking for social justice, not orchestrated grandiose distractions.

We want solutions to mass social and economic problems, not another century of grinding hard work for the masses, privilege and super wealth for the few.
