Having first read what you’re saying about people’s hardships online, More than just a gut feeling? (Echo, March 4) Then the comments by Wally Bazoom it was nice to read a more sensible thought to the situation regarding making people sell off there belongings.
When this happened in the depression of the 1920/30, the people at this time had had very little to sell. I myself lost my business in 1985 when the deregulation of the coach industry was introduced, at that time we had to sell our home to pay our Income Tax.
The situation now is this depression came about because of the banks. Those involved should have their assets for example their car taken before they receive benefits and then if they did get a job, as jobs are not on the doorstep now how would they get there.
I will not be surprised at what happens when job loses take effect.
