THE temporary set-aside rescue helicopter sales should offer a period of reconsideration of the entire situation.
Leave aside the finances, although the only ones rubbing their hands with glee were the Ministry of Defence procurers who hoped to transfer £6 billion of their debts to another department. (And there by probably hangs this whole sorry business).
But what of the loss to the Navy and the RAF of this body of skilled airmen and maintenance staff who so successfully and bravely carried out this skilled job?
Are they to be disbanded or, possibly revert to training on Salisbury Plain? Perhaps our ex military M.P. may express a view?
