IT seems totally unbelievable that the Borough of Poole ‘stands down’ the noise abatement officer (or whatever the formal title is) after 2am because ‘there were not many complaints after 2am’ (Echo, January 22). As we all know, it only takes one noise problem to cause hell to a person, family or area.

So, one would expect in this day and age, that an officer with some authority should be on hand 24/7.

This now sends out the message to noisy individuals and groups to keep the noise down until 2am, then let rip thereafter as there is no one who will knock on your door and give you a formal noise abatement notice. There is only the police who may tell you to turn it down but with powers to do no more.

This needs to be changed to have an officer on permanent standby 24/7.
