HAVING read the article on the cut in funding of the Supporting People grant which will affect housing and shelter for our most vunerable in the town, it is now time that the Tory administration in Bournemouth used some of the 18 million pounds of reserves.

After all, this is the residents’ money! What also needs to happen is a thorough branch and root review of all of our spending in all departments. This always used to happen years ago as our funding in Bournemouth hasn’t ever been what we truly need.

People I speak to ask me why does this council spend thousands of pounds on reducing the Imax, the palm trees in Holdenhurst Road, the ivy screening at the Cooper Dean roundabout, the Town Centre Master Vision, when vulnerable people in our town will be having their care, support and basic needs cut?

I have always said if the “cake isn’t made you can’t put the icing on”.

It’s time now to bring some common sense and compassion into this administration.
