AFTER reading the front page of the Daily Echo (Dec 31) I could hardly believe Beverley Dunlop’s remarks regarding the education system of Bournemouth s schools!
As a former county councillor and a member of the then education committee the majority of the Bournemouth members fought hard to retain our splendid Grammar Schools which were then under threat and fortunately we succeeded!
Most of us know that the latest Bournemouth GCSE results are above the national average so I deplore these remarks which in my opinion are not correct.
I believe Beverley Dunlop has done a great disservice to the excellent education system here in Bournemouth; surely as a former Cabinet member the correct procedure would be to voice her concern with the member for education, after all she is a member of the ruling group What a disappointing start to the New Year for our hard-working teachers.
