WHILST a fortnightly refuse collection is unacceptable, could a compromise be made of it being every 10 days?
This would of course mean the bins would have to be pulled out from the premises (to the delight of the householders) but it would reduce the annual rounds from 52 to 36, a saving of almost a third.
With regard to the recycling collections, these could be every three or four weeks if larger bins were provided as there is no putrefaction in this type of refuse and being on the same day each time the bins could still be put on the kerb. This would reduce the rounds from 26 to 13 annually a potential saving of 50 per cent.
