Regarding some of the comments about students living in the ‘real world’, as a 67 year old pensioner conscious of the fact that my generation had the ‘best years’, I went along to the demo last week and joined in the march to support them for various reasons.
These people, if and when they find a job and do not emigrate, will amongst others, be paying my state pension, winter fuel allowance, free bus pass etc.
Look after them and cherish them!
The young people have had their expectations raised too high with the policies of degrees in everything and for everybody. It is time to return to grammar schools, universities as we knew them, resources diverted into technical colleges etc with day release from employers, night school etc.
So come on old fogeys, do not turn your back on the young people!
