So Poole council “fears a 50 per cent cut in cash” for transport projects (Daily Echo, November 30). So hopefully there will be no more of the so-called road improvement schemes we have had to endure in recent years, eg: * Parkstone Road/Mount Pleasant Road: junction pavement widened, restricting carriageway from two lanes to one.

* Bournemouth Road/Archway Road: one way system preventing left turn from Bournemouth Road into Archway Road making traffic continue along Bournemouth Road to take a sharp left turn onto North Lodge Road.

* Alder Road/Mossley Avenue: traffic lights which cause traffic tailbacks into Wallisdown Road.

* Fern Barrow/Wallisdown Road: pedestrian crossing dangerously positioned just yards away from Wallisdown Road junction.

I am sure that Echo readers can add to this list. The costs of such schemes could more profitably be spent on better bus services, repairing potholes, or funding more essential public services.
