No doubt there will be various observations on the scheme announced for the Winter Gardens Site.
It is merely a compendium of all the other suggestions and proposals for all the other sites around the town, and would wipe out any prospect of a viable ice-rink, anyway.
A sensible way forward is for specific proposals for specific sites, given projected demand and viability.
Over the last 50 years we have come through two booms without any proposal on this scale being put forward, and any prospect of its success during a prolonged period of financial retrenchment is wishful thinking.
We all wish for the best around the town, but Bournemouth has evolved over 200 years, not with grandiose developments, but considered investment in viable businesses.
Let’s not kid ourselves.
