I am heartily fed-up with those businesses, institutions and people who are trying to secularise Christmas to placate a minority living in Britain.

Top of the list in my view is the Royal Mail, which has foisted Wallace and Gromit stamps on the public, forcing those who want the traditional holy theme to ask for the same old one as other years.

This unholy state of affairs has led me to use my own measures to try to combat a growing tendency to denigrate our Christian values which fails to recognise that many not of our faith enjoy our age-old festival too.

No better example in the world for practising the whole Christmas scene is Japan, whose faith is Shintoism, with the laden Christmas trees, lights and decorations in street and home, gifts exchanged, and the Christmas cake too.

This year, I will be sticking a picture of the nativity scene by the stamp as a two-finger gesture to the soulless Royal Mail bigwigs and hope that others will add their own small images to their envelopes, back or front as they wish, to show the killjoys that Christmas cannot be kicked into the long grass, as they would have happen.
