Mrs J Dowden is exactly right (Have Your Say, November 26). Brassey Road is too far away from where the RAF Halifax JP137 came down during the night of March 22, 1944 behind Meadow Court on Wimborne Road with the loss of nine lives.

That is why the Moordown 2010 Committee is now considering two more appropriate sites only yards away from where the tragedy took place and about which we hope to make an announcement in the New Year.

Our aim is to be able to have the memorial unveiled on the 67th anniversary next year as Moordown’s contribution to Bournemouth’s Bicentenery.

We are very grateful to those, like Mrs Dowden, who have come forward with their memories, and to those who are contributing to the Halifax Memorial Fund.

David Atkinson, deputy chairman of the Moordown 2010 Committee
