I wonderED if the gods have a black sense of humour when I realised the International Global Warming talks are being held in the land of the Maya – the civilisation whose calendar (and supposedly, the world) ends in 2012 – the very same year that the Kyoto Protocol runs out?
This silly treaty, which committed the EU and over 30 of the world’s richest countries to cut carbon emissions, but allowed China exemption, and which the US refused to sign – doh!
It is also very apt that our representatives in Mexico will be staying at the £240-a-night Moon Palace Golf and Spa Resort in Cancun for the UN summit – I wonder if guests will be required to ‘howl’ at our celestial cousin before supper? It would certainly sum up this total time wasting and costly lunacy!
