Further to your report headed Hair-raising ideas for contest (Have Your Say, September 28), I’m writing to highlight the hard work of all the talented hairdressers who took part.

In addition to being a very important fundraiser for the Echo-backed Sparkle appeal (to buy a hydrotherapy pool for disabled children at Victoria School), the Hair Raiser contest was also a chance for talented local hairdressers to showcase their skills and compete against other local salons.

Stylists recreated styles from the 1940s through to the present day for men, women and children, and judges from Bournemouth and Poole College crowned Salon 1336 stylists Tracey Verrall and Natalie Cranston winners in the Men’s and Women’s category and Tandem Hair winners in the Child category.

The Industry salon was awarded the audience vote, after receiving the most charitable donations on the day.

I’d also like to thank Miss Bournemouth Emily Kishere who was one of our models on the day.

Our thanks go to the Daily Echo for supporting this wonderful charity event.

We had a great day, there was a healthy spirit of competition and, more importantly, we raised money for a fantastic cause.

Stuart Cranston, Salon 1336.
