With reference to the letter (Have Your Say, September 23) on government cuts, deficit deniers must face the facts: we currently owe £15,128 for every man, woman and child.
Every household will pay £1,889 this year, just to cover the interest on the debts which have escalated.
It is not a case of enthusiastically embracing cuts in expenditure although there is no doubt some efficiency savings could and should be found.
Action has to be taken to make sure that we keep financial stability.
Not taking appropriate action now could worsen the crisis for the future.
Of course the situation must be monitored carefully to make sure that we do not have a double dip recession and also we must protect the most vulnerable members of our society.
Annette Brooke MP, Mid Dorset and North Poole House of Commons
