According to all the artist’s impressions of the Twin Sails Bridge, the join will run diagonally from left to right.

This will mean the bridge will have to close exactly level every time, or somewhere along the length of the join it will not be flush.

I can’t help wondering what the effect will be on cyclists and motorcyclists if the join is not completely flush.

A front wheel hitting this join, especially when wet, could deflect the bike into the path of oncoming traffic with terrible consequences. Such an accident would probably leave the council wide open to being sued, if it was proved to be caused by the design.
