A number of roads in the Canford Heath area are named after World War Two flyers.
Nicholson Close is named after Flt Lt James Nicholson VC, the only fighter pilot to gain the Victoria Cross award in the Battle of Britain.
On September 4 members of the 249 Squadron Association will hold a reunion at the Battle of Britain fighter station of North Weald to remember James Nicholson and his colleagues who lost their lives, and to lay a wreath at the War Memorial.
Those who now live at peace in Nicholson Close may also wish to remember him.
