Over the years I have witnessed varying forms of transport travel along the top of the West Walks of Wareham.

I have seen cycles, motorcycles, 4x4s, but until now I’ve never witnessed a horse travel along there, be it only slowly, as it munches away at the grass.

It is tethered by its owners, the travellers, who are allowed regularly to pitch their caravans within the grounds of this valuable ancient site.

The original Saxon guardians must turn in their graves to see that this abuse is allowed to continue.

Why did the local constabulary not prevent this occurrence, on July 10?

Why, if there are any, are by-laws not displayed and enforced?

English Heritage, wake up!

Place some cut-down trees across the site once the caravans have gone to prevent re-occurrence.
