IN reply to the complaints about the council’s excessive use of road bumps, especially on Boscombe Overcliff Drive, I would also like to complain on behalf of all the people with bad backs.

We live at Hengistbury Head and to travel into Bournemouth we always use the coast road, Southbourne and Boscombe Overcliff Drive. However, because my wife has arthritis with a very severe back problem, we cannot use this road now as negotiating these humps – even at 5mph or slower – is agony for my wife with her bad back.

Perhaps if any of the councillors with back problems could try driving over the humps they would experience the same discomfort.

We have tried turning down one of the side roads and going into town by way of Wentworth Avenue but – lo and behold – there are some ridiculous humps down Wentworth as well.

The only way we can travel to Bournemouth without my wife being in excruciating pain is to go through Southbourne to the main Christchurch Road and add to the congestion on the main road – then wait ages in traffic jams.

I believe this problem must affect more people in similar situations.
