Most people would agree that the perception of Boscombe has been turned around over the last few years. From being down at heel, it is now cool.

The regeneration of the area has been partly down to Bournemouth council’s investment, but it is mostly down to local residents and businesses. They have seen a 32 per cent increase in visitors, an equi-valent rise in visitor satisfaction, and a 40 per cent reduction in reported antisocial behaviour.

The council continues to invest in Boscombe.

The creation of office space employing more than 100 people in a redundant building north of Christchurch Road is set to be the next step in supporting the local economy.

The former BCCA building has stood empty for three years. Bournemouth council grabbed the opportunity to bid for government money to create a ‘services hub’ there, where staff from the council and other agencies could work together. This is another good news story for Boscombe.

It’s such a shame, therefore, that a small group of individuals (Have Your Say, June 12) seems intent on derailing the project.

I really hope they don’t turn this good news bad, especially when the government is looking to rein in public spending.
