How many more accidents or deaths will it take before the highways agency takes action on the Somerford by-pass (Driver killed in A35 smash, Daily Echo, May 24)?
Remove the clearway restriction and put a 50mph limit on this relatively short section of road. Vehicles trying to join either carriageway from opposing side roads is scary on this busy road.
Speed cameras on both sides before the intermediate junctions would ensure a better chance of joining the main road safely.
An increase in the use of mobile speed cameras in the area might help enforce the speed limits applied at the time.
