The latest atrocity carried out by the rogue state of Israel illustrates that country’s contempt not only for the rule of law but for the opinions of civilised nations throughout the world. For a so-called democracy to attack a convoy on the high seas carrying aid and supplies for the stricken people of Gaza and to kill some of the people on that convoy is monstrous.
No excuses can possibly be advanced for this action, which is outside all known codes of civilised behaviour. Having attacked the convoy under cover of darkness, Israel totally controlled the news on this atrocity by holding the captives incommunicado and preventing journalists or legal representatives making contact with them.
Next year in Bournemouth we shall be electing councillors and it is essential that all candidates standing for election state their position on the Palestine/Israel conflict. Both the Conservative and Liberal Democrat parties have a policy which favours a two-state solution. How can it be possible, in the light of that fact, for Bournemouth council to continue with its ludicrous town-twinning arrangement with Israel?
We need to hear from councillors that steps will be taken to end this farce.
Tony Williams, Warnford Road, Bournemouth
