Presumably the licences required to take photos on the beach (Daily Echo, May 28) are aimed at institutions such as The Daily Echo, film companies staging shoots, and people who will be publishing the photos in some form or another – not the general public. However, I feel sure we will be approached should we take pictures on the beach, to be asked what the photos are for.

But couldn’t everyone just say; “They’re me holiday snaps, guv’nor,” and get away with it?

It it looks as if it’s just more bureaucratic nonsense creating jobs.

Now, what with officials being paid by our local councils to fine us for not bringing the wheelie bin in quick enough, catching smokers for dropping cigarette litter, traffic wardens, and all the other assorted 1984-style policing; is it any wonder our council tax never goes down?

No, and it never will, because it’s paying the wages of these people, but I suppose in doing so it’s bringing the unemployment figures down.
