Friday April 30 was a bitter-sweet day when I returned to Forest Dene, Christchurch Hospital to say goodbye to the unit and see staff old and new.
We laughed and remembered with pride all the achievements we had made in nursing young, disabled and rheumatology patients many, many times over a long period of time.
Patients often said: “When we come through the doors of Forest Dene we know we are safe and will receive the best care possible”.
I would also like to pay tribute to the great team of staff I worked with, who took pride in themselves and the work they did. Never lower your high standards which we achieved.
