I absolutely agree that the enormous problem of stray animals in other countries such as Greece should be their problem and that they should have their own animal welfare organisations, but they don’t.
This leaves two options.
We could turn a blind eye, leaving foreign strays to suffer from disease, starvation and human cruelty: alternatively, we could stop pretending it’s not a problem just because it’s not on our doorstep and help as best we can.
The finger should be pointed at breeders and puppy farms that exploit animals purely to get rich quick.
Endless amounts of young are produced for sale, all of which need homes.
If this was stopped there would be more homes for strays, regardless of where they are from.
