Roger James of Oxfam (Have Your Say, May 3) reminds us of the need to support low-carbon developments to help protect the world’s poorest countries from the threat of climate change.

Faith Eckersall’s ‘make do and mend’ article in the same edition reminds us of the post-war rationing period when facing a time of hardship.

We are also all aware of the devastation being wreaked on fragile ecosystems in the Gulf of Mexico from oil spilled as it becomes harder to extract.

Luckily Transition BH is addressing these traumatic issues with a variety of solutions. Transition Bournemouth is hosting a free film event monthly at The Friends’ Meeting House, 16 Wharncliffe Road, Boscombe, at 7pm.

On May 10 we will be showing and discussing the film Farm for the Future, which suggests ways in which we can help each other to a sustainable and resilient future. The next Transition Bournemouth meeting is at the Town Hall on May 18 at 7.30pm.
