If an envelope bearing the Christian Aid logo is popped through your door in the next day or so, take a careful look at the photo on the back.

It shows a child in Kenya sitting and eating by a sewer. Imagine how you would feel if it was your child, or grandchild.

Alternatively, take a plastic bag with you next time you visit the toilet. Imagine you have no lavatory, so you have to use the bag, and then throw it out the window. In some of the slums of Kenya, these are referred to as “flying toilets”.

If such things repel you then reach for your purse and pop some coins or notes, or even a cheque, into the envelope ready for when a volunteer comes round to collect it, some time between May 9 and 15.

You can also donate online at caweek.org or text Poverty to 70300. The text will cost £3, of which Christian Aid will receive about £2.30.

Christian Aid helps some of the world’s poorest families, regardless of race or creed.

It works with local communities in practical ways enabling people to stand on their own feet.

Thank you for your help.
