I AM writing to say thank you to the 95 per cent of cyclists who respected the pedestrians during the summer months, especially in July and August when cycling on the prom was not meant to take place at all during the day.

Of course there were some people who took no notice whatsoever, especially between Alum Chine and Branksome Chine, which happens every year.

Now that the cyclists can use the seafront without any restrictions, of course, we are back to square one. The weather has been beautiful for the time of year and so there have been many visitors and local people making the most of it, going for walks and taking children and grandchildren out along the seafront at weekends.

We (as always) walk along every weekend and see the speed that the cyclists are going at.

Some of them have no intention of slowing down.

So please, cyclists, don’t start another uproar – a lot of you are in the wrong.

Give some consideration to everyone using the promenade – think and slow down before an accident happens, and it could, quite easily, in the winter months ahead!
