Thousands of children and their families have lost everything following the three separate natural disasters which have recently hit the Asia-Pacific region.

UNICEF – the United Nations Children’s Fund has launched the Asia-Pacific Disasters Children Appeal to provide emergency relief to children and families affected in the region.

Typhoon Ketsana in the Philippines has affected over 2.5 million people with about 200,000 sheltering in evacuation centres. The tsunami which hit Samoa and Tonga on September 29 has affected tens of thousands of people, leaving many children injured and homeless.

The devastating earthquakes in Sumatra, Indonesia have left at least 529 people dead and thousands more injured.

UNICEF receives no funding from the United Nation’s budget and relies on donations to fund its valuable work with vulnerable children and women.

Please help us to respond to the needs of the children and their families in the Asia- Pacific region. Donations can be made by calling 0800 316 5353 or online at unicef.org.uk/ asiapacificREG1.

Cheques or postal orders, payable to UNICEF, will be gratefully received at UNICEF Asia-Pacific Disasters Children’s Appeal, FREEPOST CL885, Room REG1, Billericay, CM12 0BR.

Just £15 will provide a Basic Family Water Kit which includes water containers, buckets, soap and water purification tablets for 10 families.
