I was disturbed to read (Daily Echo, September 30) that a local photographer had been taken to task for using the council’s beach as a setting for commercial photography.
The Echo website is brimming with colourful responses, generally implying that Poole Park, The Quay, Coy Pond or any street other than private grounds may also be prohibited areas.
Remember the slogan “Poole is a beautiful place”?
Many artists and photographers are selling paintings and images commercially depicting local beauty spots and gorgeous sunsets. Should they all have sought permission before starting ?
If this applies to weddings, surely the highly illustrated brochure handed out by the Poole Registration Service, showing Poole’s wonderful beach locations, should mention that permission is required?
Indeed, the front cover depicting a newly wed couple outside the Guildhall, may well give the impression that wedding photography in that street is permitted, when it apparently may not be.
