May I, on behalf of Friends of the Strays of Greece, thank all those who joined our sponsored dog walk on September 20 at Ashley Heath. Through their generous support of donations and gifts of dog and cat food, we raised an amazing £1,700 – plus we filled a people carrier with the animal food! In this time of economic difficulty, it is so touching to find that people dig deep for animals surviving in abject misery in Greece and its islands. Our van, loaded to the hilt, left on Tuesday and, as I write, Mark is now handing out the dog and cat food and other essential veterinary items to small organisations across Greece. Can I especially thank Paul Martin, his wife and dogs for leading the walk, to the Forestry Commission for allowing us the use of their land and Norman Motors for their continued sponsorship. A very big thanks to everyone involved.
Thank you Echo for your publicity on this.
Lyn & Mark Purden, Friends of the Strays of Greece
