I write in support of Father Tony Pennicott (Dr Death’s suicide lessons, Daily Echo, April 30) who is emphasising the Christian belief in the sanctity of life.

Old hat it may be to some, but upholding one’s religious beliefs is one way of maintaining moral standards in a world that too often seems content to put them to one side.

Neither is it a question of “pressure” or “manipulation” as one reader wrote – it is simply a matter of doing what one believes is right.
