My husband and I enjoyed a five-day break in Bournemouth last week. Of course, visiting at this time of the year, we realised that certain attractions wouldn’t be open, such as the cliff lifts, but I was very disappointed at the state of the illuminations in the Lower Gardens.
We walked through there specially in the evenings but very few of the bulbs were working and only half a dozen of the flower decorations lit up.
The same fate had befallen the sign on the building at the end of the pier – as it read P ER TH ATRE. Having seen the large Imax sign on the side of the building by the sea we wondered what was showing but, after trying various doors in vain, eventually someone told us that it closed years ago! Maybe the sign could be removed?
We enjoyed a pleasant amble by the sea to Boscombe Pier and were very impressed by the From Dawn until Dusk sculpture. I’m sure I’m not the first person to point out the spelling mistake on it though; “compliment” should be “complement”.
