THE latest fad at the moment seems to be unconscious bias training, this follows on from diversity training.

Indeed, our own BCP council is reported us saying they intend to send all employees on an unconscious bias training course.

We read today that the BBC intends to ban football commentators saying ‘racist’ words such as cake walk, nitty-gritty, sold down the river and uppity as part of racial bias training.

A whole industry has sprung up to reprogram people’s minds and to teach them which words that may offend others. Who are these people that are so offended by what is said nowadays?

Wouldn’t it be much better if training and courses were run to teach people not to be so easily offended by what others say.

Hardly a day goes by without somebody bringing up a word or saying this is likely to cause offence to some others, is this really the world we now live in.
