IT certainly is an urgent matter to resolve the problem of cyclists along the prom.
We have a beach hut along the prom between Boscombe Pier and Southbourne.
What should be a delight to have our grandchildren with us, turns into a nightmare because of the ridiculous speeds of many of the cyclists.
Last year two of our grandchildren just missed being seriously injured by about an inch.
I agree with the previous letter that the signs are totally inadequate.
Even as a pedestrian you have to look for them as they are not much bigger than an A4 sheet of paper.
Something must be done to stop the prom being used like a race track.
Sometimes I think that banning bicycles is the only answer but this would be unfair to the few that do keep to a safe speed.
Beach hut owners pay a substantial annual fee to Bournemouth council so it would only be right for them to listen and act on this matter.
