ONCE again the pen-pushers have decided that emergencies will be removed from Poole General Hospital (PGH) to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, miles away from the major accident areas of Purbeck and Poole.

Unless there is a greater use of air ambulances, the majority of life-threatening patient survival rates must drop as the time taken by ambulance all the way to Littledown will be counted in hours not minutes.

I am so grateful that living within minutes of PGH I lived to tell the tale.

Next time I wouldn’t give a fig for my chances.
