IT is with huge regret that I have heard of the passing of Councillor Philip Whitelegg – a great inspirational man.
I knew Cllr Whitelegg when I was at school, knowing the family, and it was my honour to know him when I was first elected to the council in 1974 as he was a leading councillor in the town.
He had a great sense of humour, and he led well researched debates in the chamber to represent his constituents and help develop the town to become as popular as it is today.
My sympathies extend particularly to his family that have always been such a great support to him.

Mayor of Bournemouth
