I APPRECIATE the lengthy response by Cllr Beesley on to my probably perceived affront to the matter of councillors' expenses.
He explained these are minimal compared to allowances claimed. I’m happy to be corrected but to most of the electorate the two would seem to be the same thing. Perhaps a play on words?
No response to my suggestion in my letter that most of those who qualify for bus passes help to subsidise the cost themselves via their council tax. they pay? The council, by not raising council tax rates for the past few years has have inadvertently demonstrated how wasteful it they may have been in the past by cutting costs to keep tax rates down in a time of austerity. In the meantime the increase in car park charges (and extension of summer time charge periods), as well as the introduction of charges for the garden waste collections from 2016, will affect those who use those facilities and beef up the council coffers nicely at the residents' expense for a service originally encouraged as being an environmentally friendly scheme for all to partake?
