I’M not going to pretend that I know all the facts and arguments regarding the Navitus Bay project, however I am really struggling to understand how it will negatively affect our tourism industry.

Who are these people deciding about visiting Bournemouth and think, “There are great beaches, shopping, access to local countryside, hotels…oh wait, a tiny view of wind turbines on the horizon, that will ruin the holiday. Let’s go somewhere else!” Seriously? I cannot comprehend this.

Personally, I love driving through a landscape with wind turbines ( I think they look awesome), but Navitus Bay will be miniscule from land so what is the fuss about?

Spotting them will be no different from seeing if the Isle of Wight is visible that day, or spotting the Barfleur returning from France.

In my experience children love this ‘I Spy’ type game.

Generating green energy should be something that Bournemouth and Dorset is proud of. We have the opportunity of setting a brilliant example of sustainability, which I believe would actually enhance our tourism prospects and our credentials as one of the ‘greenest’ locations in the country.
