How the Cherries REALLY got their name
I REFER to the letter ‘How the Cherries got their namesake’ (P Wareham, May 7).
The name doesn’t come after the choice of colours for their shirts.
The Cherries’ nickname comes from playing on the site of the Cooper Dean estate which was home to a number of cherry orchards. That’s why.
