I HAVE been a member of the National Trust Bournemouth and Poole Association for just over six months now having been invited to join by other members.

I was not aware of the existence of this organisation or what purpose it served until I joined.

There is a practical side to this organisation in raising funds to finance and support various projects in local National Trust properties such as Brownsea Island and Kingston Lacy.

Over a year there have been holidays to enjoy such as longer breaks to North Wales and Falmouth in Cornwall or shorter weekend breaks, also opportunities to go on day trips, visiting Portsmouth Dockyard to see the Mary Rose exhibit and many other places of interest.

Talks are held on various interesting subjects. Christmas and other luncheons are organised throughout the year.

I am enjoying both the practical and social benefits of being able to meet many other like-minded people and enjoy the events on offer.

If anyone would be interested in joining the National Trust Bournemouth and Poole Association to protect our heritage and enjoy an interesting social life, the membership fee is just £5 per year. Membership is open to non National Trust members.
