There have been several letters recently regarding the closure of public toilets in Parkstone and Broadstone with the respective Councils stating that this was due to a lack of funds.
One correspondent suggested that a small charge for their use could be levied plus possible income from advertising which is fine providing the advertisements were vetted in order to ensure that the services offered were above board.
To encourage people to use these facilities rather than the nearest bush or shop doorway a ‘pay as you go’ system could be introduced whereby you could purchase, say, 10 tokens for the price of 8. ln these days of high technology it should be a simple matter for pensioners’ bus passes to double as loo passes to give them free entry as some form of relief would be greatly appreciated.
