I WRITE regarding the letter about beach huts published on March 1. Approximately 55 private beach huts and a further 40 council beach chalets were damaged beyond repair in the February 14 storm.
In fact a total, of 387 huts were affected in some way.
The beach huts on the private sites are owned by the individual tenant and liability for insurance is with the tenant.
We recognise some beach hut tenants have been severely affected and council officers are currently assessing options to help ease the financial burden on individuals.
With that in mind we will be writing to affected individuals shortly.
