RECENT focus has been on Stony Lane bridge regarding weeks of closure through flooding, and plans to install traffic light management.
This plan is so that the road can be narrowed to create a wider footpath to accommodate mobility scooters and double buggies.
All together this proves how unfit for purpose this old bridge, built over a hundred years ago, really is.
The situation is crying out for a new, modern bridge that would allow all the above problems to be solved in one.
Spending £140,000 as proposed would be a waste of time and money and solve nothing.
As a long time resident of Stony Lane, a new bridge please.
