IN response to ‘Navitus is not the answer’ the output from wind turbines is actually pretty well known.

During the recent storms the UK received just over 16 per cent of its energy generation from wind. Germany, in fairer weather, gets about 36 per cent of its demand.

They are very effective and very cheap to run compared to oil and gas which are hazardous and often dirty. Also far less problematic than nuclear and coal.

Germany’s population is only 20 million more than us. They have around 22,000 wind generators (of all sorts), here in the UK we have about 5,000.

They are beautiful and quiet to watch (standing the same distance from a main road receives far worse noise) and I really think your community should consider these more strongly.

Add into the fact this technology could easily be adapted to take energy from the south’s rivers (via water wheels) and you have a sustainable and versatile energy source.
