I HAVE just read the story regarding the family of nine who are requesting rehousing by Bournemouth council (Daily Echo, October 22).

I find it very difficult to ‘square the circle’ on this. I am absolutely furious with the parents and desperately sorry for the poor children.

As a parent of three grown up children, I am proud that they are all in work and own their own homes.

This has not been easy for them. They worked hard at school and college and had paper rounds, weekend jobs and holiday jobs and learned how to manage their finances.

Now they have families of their own and just like millions of other families find it hard to pay their council tax, mortgage and other household bills.

They don’t have nine children because they simply couldn't afford a home big enough to live in comfortably.

My son and his partner have just had a baby and when my daughter-in-law goes back to work after her maternity leave, she has to find the money for childcare as neither she nor my son are able to stay at home as they need to pay their bills.

This is what responsible people do!

Do Mr Miller and Ms Cann realise that my children and every person that is working and paying taxes are paying for their home and the benefits that are paid to them?

No wonder the country is broke. We have too many people that think it is OK to have large families and expect the government and councils to support them using the money we have paid in taxes.

It’s not OK! Be responsible. If you can’t afford to provide a satisfactory home for the children you have, don’t have more!

I hope that Bournemouth council will find this family more suitable accommodation, but please, Mr Miller and Ms Cann, get your act together and take responsibility for yourselves and your beautiful children.
