I AM a great believer in making the roads that pass our schools safer for the children going to and fro with their parents.

So, on Tuesday I was happy to see instead of the usual camera car passing by, two traffic wardens on foot patrolling the roads using their powers to ensure that safety.

It had the desired effect as on the Wednesday in that awful weather I observed a parent, who obviously had the welfare of their child at heart, managed what I can only describe as a rolling pick-up.

For those who have not been made aware of this practice what it entails is the parent driving the vehicle along the zig-zags at a slow enough speed for the child (under 10) to hop into the rather high 4x4.

As the child performed the task with such accuracy I can only assume it’s a regular occurrence. I just wondered how many other parents have adopted this idea.
