WHERE is it all going to end? Yellow lines are spreading their tentacles further and further into the community.

The restrictions they bring will strangle the neighbourhood.

Solving a parking problem by creating more problems is not the solution.

I refer to the proposed introduction of yellow lines in the Littledown area which will restrict parking between 11am and noon and 2pm to 3pm.

Are we expected to move all cars between 11am and noon and 2pm to 3pm? And where to?

I am particularly concerned about the continued existence of Swanmore Gardens which hosts a thriving and successful bowls club and eight tennis courts.

The proposal would certainly prevent most bowls matches from taking place at this valuable recreational site.

And this is just when the government are introducing schemes to encourage over-60s and the newly retired to take up an activity.

The Swanmore Bowls Club is part of the Bowls Development Alliance which actively encourages all ages to participate in bowls for their social and physical well-being.

What about the thriving Boscombe East small shops and businesses, where do the staff park?

Local churches are also affected and they provide help, support and companionship for the local community.

If the council wishes to attract large businesses to the area then surely adequate parking for staff should be considered as part of the planning.

We have to accept that many commuters do not have a reasonable alternative to using their cars.

If this ill-advised scheme to deter commuter parking comes into force it will lead to the demise of a superb local facility.
