I FEEL I must respond to a recent letter denigrating Canford Cliffs library.

As a very frequent visitor, I feel qualified to respond.

The library is run by dedicated and knowledgeable staff.

Facilities have improved – free computer, fee wifi and, not least, an excellent cup of coffee can be obtained for a very reasonable 60p.

Of course magazine choices are limited due to financial restrictions, they do a good job within the available budget.

Did, however, your correspondent know that a serial newspaper ‘Cutter’ is at work?

Some newspapers even ‘walk’.

My choice of reading material is highly diverse, without fail, the library has been able to source my requirements.

The branch has a very successful Friends of Canford Cliffs library group – the results of which can be seen as soon as you enter the library.

It is encouraging mums to take their children to the library, I hope it can help the development of a lifelong love of books, as it has for me.

Never in my 25 years in this area have I found children to be a distraction, far less a source of annoyance.
