EDDIE Howe admitted he would wait to discover the full extent of the injury sustained by Charlie Daniels but described it as “potentially serious”.

The experienced full-back, in just his second game since returning from surgery on his kneecap, was stretchered off after just 37 minutes against Manchester City.

Club stalwart Daniels picked up the injury having delivered a cross against the defending Premier League champions.

He was later seen on crutches with the injury sustained to his right knee – the opposite to his previous problem.

Giving an update on the full-back, Howe said: “I don’t know exactly what he’s done but I know it’s potentially serious.

“To see a player go off on a stretcher like that, in the amount of pain that he was in, you fear the worst.

“Until we get a proper diagnosis it’s difficult to give you definites but we are concerned for him.”

Meanwhile, Howe insisted City full-back Kyle Walker could have been sent off during the first half of his side’s 3-1 defeat.

Walker had earned a booking for a foul on Nathan Ake after 10 minutes, having also fouled the dutchman six minutes previously.

Howe added: “I thought the one that could have been a red card was Kyle Walker’s two challenges. The second one was a yellow, I thought the first one was as well.”
